Stuck On You

June 23, 2009

Have you ever pulled up painter’s tape only to realize that you pulled off a lot more than you wanted? Maybe it looks something like this:

Now, ideally, you should be able to pull off painter’s tape as soon as the second coat is finished. The paint would not be tacky yet and the tape should not pull up any paint. But if you are like me, you probably overpaint in some places and it would drip onto the trim if you pulled up the paint too early. So what’s a girl (or boy) to do?

It you run a razor, very lightly, over the edge of the trim, the tape should come up in a straight line. Try to press only hard enough to cut a line through the paint. You don’t want to cut through the tape or even into the wall!

Voila! Perfect line.
